Delving beneath the surface of life at Patternity Studio



As part of Patternity’s first annual celebration of pattern in culture – PATTERNPOWER: SUPERSTRIPE - Patternity and Creature of London teamed up to commission seven cutting-edge filmmakers & artists to create a series of eclectic moving-image works inspired by the themes of the exhibition. In keeping with the all-encompassing nature of the exhibition, these works span the diverse cultural domains of fashion, art, design, science, technology, the environment and beyond…

Having graduated from Manchester School of Art with a BA (Hons) Design and Art Direction in 2009; it wasn’t long before MMU Alumni and Graphic Designer Malcolm Garrett spotted Hitchen’s photography and put her in contact with acclaimed Fashion Photographer Nick Knight. In 2010, Knight appointed Hitchen as his First Assistant and Filmmaker at SHOWstudio.com, based in London.
In 2012, Hitchen decided to make her solo directing debut and now works under a new creative guise {Un}titled as a Filmmaker, Photographer and Creative Director. Hitchen’s film for Fashion Designer and Haute Coiffeur, Charlie Le Mindu, screened as part of London and Paris Fashion Weeks, and further nominated and screened at several Fashion Film Festivals and exhibitions worldwide including Diane Pernet’s A Shaded View of Fashion Film at Centre Pompidou in Paris. Having being named as one of photographer Rankin’s ‘Dig the New Breed’ of Fashion Filmmakers in 2012, she now regularly contributes to Dazed Digital, i-D online and Wonderland Magazine. Hitchen also acts as a Guest Lecturer and University Tutor across the Manchester School of Art.
